John Ruskin, prophet of the Arts and Crafts Movement

A visit led by Anthony Burton to see the exhibition John Ruskin: Art and Wonder at the Millenium Galleries, Sheffield. Meet at St Martin's Church Hall on Brabyns Brow at 12.00 for a short introductory talk by Anthony then by train to Sheffield to view the exhibition. Further details.

2019 Community Art Exhibition

Curated by Rev Ann Hyde, an exhibition in Church of artworks by various community groups taking inspiration from the stained glass window on the east wall in Church depicting Christ in Majesty. Further details.

The Arts and Crafts Movement in the North West

A study afternoon with afternoon tea looking at the Arts and Crafts Collection of the Manchester Metropolitan Museum and the latest research on the Northern Art Workers' Guild.

 

Spring/Summer 2020: Our year of William Morris

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the church we will focus on the work of William Morris with study afternoons, visits and lectures. Confirmed events so far are:

Monday May 4th 2020
Day Trip to see Morris glass

Our annual expedition, this time to view Morris glass in Darley Dale, Youlgreave and Macclesfield.

 

Thursday 18th June 2020
"Tears wept by our windows"- restoring Morris glass

A lecture by Alison Gilchrist of Barley Studios, one of the leading specialist restorers and conservators of Morris glass.
