The Arts and Crafts Movement: its legacy today
The Arts and Crafts revival was a reaction to the way mechanization eroded traditional handicrafts in the 19th century. In the 20th century even fine art tended to discount manual skills, but a revaluation of the crafts developed all the more strongly. Ann Hyde describes how the Arts and Crafts tradition persists.
