Flower Festival at St Martin's Low Marple

After 9 months of planning and preparation, Romiley Floral Art Guild led by chairman David Mason produced a stunning display of floral arrangement to mark 150 years of worship at St Martin's Church on Brabyns Brow in Marple. Christopher Whall painting restored

In 2016 we completed the restoration of the Christopher Whall painting in the Lady Chapel ("Our lady of the Goyt") thanks to a very generous donation from one of our Friends. We held a viewing of the painting in Church on Saturday 26th November when coffee and biscuits were served while people came to see the result of the first restoration and conservation project undertaken by the Heritage Trust.

Restoration Projects

At a recent meeting the Trustees agreed that the first project for the Trust would be the restoration of the War Memorial in Church. This would involve cleaning the bronze sculpture and refreshing the gold lettering of the names of the fallen. Initially we will seek advice from the experts within the Diocese on how to proceed and this is in process. We will also investigate the possibility of altering the lighting within Church in that area so that the details of the sculpture can be better shown.
